Share

The first sign of costumes in the stores marks the beginning of Purim planning, especially if you have kids. Costumes, celebrations, events, all must be addressed. Where should you start?

Tel Aviv is the ultimate Purim destination for kids with so many events designed specifically for children.

Yitzhak Rabin Center

The Israeli Museum at the Yitzhak Rabin Center will offer (in Hebrew) two plays, games workshops and tours on March 12 and March 13.
The first play will be held on March 12 at 10:30, and is about a dispute between two friends discussing an old stamp collection that references historical events in Israel. The second play will be on March 13, at 10:30 and follows the lives of five leaders: Theodor Herzl, David Ben-Gurion, Golda Meir, Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Rabin.

During of the one-hour performances the kids will be walking throughout the museum.

The program is in Hebrew and geared towards kids ages 6-12.

Tel Aviv Port

The Port is always a fun place to take your kids—especially on Purim. Witness the Port come alive with tons of cheerful families enjoying the holiday. There will be several events for kids there on March 12, from 10:00-16:00. The festivities are free and will be found in various locations such as across from the Nike store, near the sandbox in the center of the port, and in the northern section. You will hear and see the events from afar so they will be hard to miss! In addition to those festivities, your kids will surely enjoy seeing many of the other children dressed up in beautiful and original costumes.

Costume Shopping in Tel Aviv

Shuk HaCarmel (Carmel Market) and surrounding stores sell a variety of Purim costumes that will put you and your kids in the spirit of the holiday. It is a great bonding experience to make costume shopping an outing, rather than quickly popping into a store on the way back from running errands. You can start and finish your entire Purim experience in Tel Aviv Adloyada

Adloyada

This is a famous Purim parade that takes place annually in Holon—a 10-15 minute drive from Tel Aviv. It is a spectacular event that draws thousands from across the country. In it’s 25th year, the parade will feature heroes from Israel and around the world such as Mary Poppins, the Beatles, Pippi Longstocking and a large balloon of Israel’s first prime minister: David Ben Gurion. Adloyada has never been a typical parade with marching bands and a few cute floats. This event is THE Purim event in Israel for kids. This year they will have over 4,000 dancers, an abundance of acrobats, jugglers orchestras, bands, breathtaking costumes and much more. The event will begin at 12 pm on Sunday, March 12.
